As a professional dancer & avid runner; I’ve had my fair share of overuse injuries over the years; many times hindering my ability to do what I love – movement. However, it was through these trials & tribulations I found a love & appreciation for the incredible benefits of low impact exercise.
It’s for this very reason, I created the emBODYment 360 method; combining an array of low-impact training options, such as barre, yoga, Pilates, & non-abrasive cardio strength workouts. Offering a balanced program that is attainable for all levels & sustainable for our body at any stage of life.
What is considered low-impact exercise?
To be considered low-impact exercise, the activity must not place increased stress on the joints. One or both feet will always be in contact with the ground for standing exercises, or if you are seated no jarring or impact will occur within the body.
So, let’s dive into 7 key advantages to low-impact exercise:
1. Joint-Friendly: Gentle on your joints, making it ideal for individuals with arthritis, joint pain, or those recovering from injuries. By reducing stress on our joints, we can exercise without fear of exacerbating existing issues or developing new ones.
2. Increased Flexibility: Activities like barre, yoga, & Pilates help enhance flexibility & mobility. Regular practice can lead to improved range of motion, reducing the risk of injuries & enhancing overall quality of life.
3. Core Strength: Many low-impact workouts, like those found in the e360 virtual studio, focus on building core strength, which is essential for maintaining good posture, preventing back pain, & increasing stability and balance.
4. Mind-Body Connection: Low-impact movement often emphasizes mind-body connection, taking exercises slower with greater attention to proper alignment. Practicing mindfulness during our workouts can also have a positive impact on our mental well-being.
5. Muscle Definition: Strength training with resistance or body weight helps to increase our lean muscle mass, in turn elevating the body’s calorie-burning capacity. These activities stimulate muscle growth which gives the body a more toned appearance.
6. Weight Management: If you’re looking to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, low-impact exercise will help you burn calories & manage your weight effectively while reducing the risk of overuse injuries commonly associated with high-impact activities.
7. Longevity: Sustainable fitness for the long term, making it easier to maintain a consistent exercise routine without excessive wear & tear. This provides a more inclusive & lasting approach to physical fitness.
By embracing low-impact training, we can enjoy a versatile fitness routine that supports our overall well-being. Whether you’re looking to rehabilitate, build strength, improve flexibility, or simply find peace of mind, low-impact workouts, like emBODYment 360, are an excellent choice.
Consider giving low-impact training a try & experience the positive effects it can have on your health & wellness journey.
♥ Much love, Melinda
